About
As Deputy Mayor for two terms. Re-elect Gord Queen deputy Mayor.
Platform: listening to the people, and building on our past success.
How important to you is public engagement? If you support it, what is your plan for improved engagement of residents in decision-making processes?
Public Engagement in public is and will remain important . The opportunity to share with staff, council and other members of the public . With public information sessions and at Public meetings of council or committees.
For our current council members. Which council decision made last term would you change?
Committee of the Whole versus Parks,Recreation, Arts and Culture Committee. When presented the idea sounded great to permit all members of Council know what was going on. In reality from my humble perspective we lost the input of not only the Volunteers but also the user groups such as Ball, Soccer, Tennis, Pickleball, and skating as examples. We had a past process that was inviting and had frank discussion. The staff suggested in would be easier for staff support. I am always welcome to try a new idea, but in reality still not sure any benefit was achieved.
What do you believe would be best use of the high school property? It appears that this has been asked by a member so please also comment on the KPS property.
KPS for resident housing
KDHS for mix . Sever Migration Hall, purchase and offer opportunity for developers to respond to requests for proposals that include a mix of Housing and could have other options for a future Council to Consider.
First phase the new town needs to decide what they want to buy.
The old days of buying a school for 1$ have long past that’ thanks to the Province.
Now the school boards are expected to get fair market value. Council can ask upper levels of government for funding but that seems like writing a letter to Santa.
